It is Canada’s southernmost point bordered by Lake Erie, the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair. Between two Lakes and a major shipping channel we have over 100 miles of coast line.
I know that it is Canada but, the weather is not all that bad here either. We are known for seven months of short-sleeve weather, long hot summers and moderate winters. If you are looking to park your boat at the back door, buy your dream lakefront home, waterfront condo or cottage.... Windsor and its surrounding coastal communities could be the place for you!
We have some handsome properties in some quaint little towns such as Leamington, Kingsville, Amherstburg and Lasalle. These are great spots for a cottage get-a-way location. If you want to be on an island there is Pelee Island renown for wild life and birds. It has been dubbed “The Warbler Capital of North America,” because 42 of the 55 species have been sighted here. There is also Boblo Island which has been turned into a marina and resort community.
The Detroit River is one of the busiest shipping channels in the world. It is a real treat to watch the freighters go by. Some of these ships are over 1000 feet long! After living in Windsor over 15 years this still amazes me. Homes on Lake St. Clair in the Tecumseh, St. Clair Beach and Lakeshore area all have different but, spectacular views. It is a beautiful site to see the colourful sailboat spinnakers on race night.
When showing or listing any of these properties I peer out immediately to the lake or river. The kitchen always gets the last look. I am so fortunate to be able to show and sell these unique homes.
